The Tucson Inn

April 28, 2013

I don’t know why I love this so much, but I do.
Maybe it’s because I can look at it and see entire stories.
Spartan rooms with old, scuffed wooden furniture.
A double bed mattress that sags in the middle.
Small, limp pillows with cheap, rough cases.
An air-conditioner that clanks and grinds as it pushes out tepid air.
Generic soaps wrapped in white paper
in a tiny tile bathroom smelling of disinfectant
and an even tinier closet with bent metal hangers on the rod.

The faded paint of the beat up old clunkers in the parking lot.
Lovers who spend a few hot, sweaty hours on damp sheets.

Professional travelers who are always in the process of moving on.

  2. Beautiful new blog. Congratulation!

The Inn looks very retro. When I’m in the area I’ll have to take a look.

  5. The new site looks terrific, Carol–and I love the Tucson Inn post. It took me right back to all the motels I stayed in as a kid when my family was vacationing.
