Wagon, ho!

October 2, 2017

wagon-hoBy the time you read this we will have finished our two-day drive to Santa Fe –where we’ll live for the next two months. This will be the fourth year we’ve done the fall in Santa Fe and for some reason, I’ve been asked a ton of questions about it. So let me give you the FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions:

Why?

Because we love Santa Fe. It’s gorgeous in fall and the weather is usually nice.

What do you do there? What is there to do?

Exactly what we do at home: we live there. We work, go to the gym, see friends, cook, go to museums and lectures and take Riley for walks.

The “What is there to do” question puzzles us, because the place is rife with museums of all different kinds, hikes, lectures, a rockin’ Saturday Farmers Market and the best movie theatre I’ve ever been in. This year we’re attending a dozen different lectures put on by a local organization with topics as diverse as the Cuban missile crisis, the Supreme Court, Liberalism and Conservatism and a FOUR-DAY SYMPOSIUM ON THE 60S that has my name all over it! Lectures on Dr. King, the peace movement and even a dance party.

What is there to do? PLENTY!

Do you have a house there?

No, we rent, usually the same house but this year we rented a different one.

Where is it?

It’s a mile up the hill off Canyon Drive, in a little more rural area than our last house, which was right at the end of Canyon Dr.

What about Riley?

He comes with us. He adores walking in the Plaza.

What’s different this time?

A Healing Spirit is different. I’ve carted and shipped files and products so I can continue working without missing a beat. Which reminds me: we have supportive and gentle condolence and healing gifts. Come see them!

Are you having house guests?

Yes, a few different times.

More tomorrow! We’re off this morning to pick up the boxes we shipped to the UPS store, to Smith’s for staples shopping and possibly to our gym to sign up again. This year we’re going to do some gentle yoga classes as well as hang in the cardio area. Have I even told you about this public gym, which has a regulation hockey rink, Olympic pool and so many other amenities? More on that later!

  2. Santa Fe is such a beautiful city. I hope you have a ton of fun!

  3. I think the “what is there to do” question is an almost instinctual one for some reason. People want to experience new things when they travel, so when they hear you’re going to a new place, they’re always eager to know what’s in the area. After all, they might want to go there one day.

I think it is so cool to travel (and live) in different places for certain parts of the year. I have been thinking about moving to the beach during summer months, but that will take some saving up.

I have never been to Santa Fe, but it sounds like a great place to visit. They do say the best way to experience a place is to actually live there like the locals instead of just passing through like a tourist so I hope you have a wonderful stay!
