Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, and a big safety issue for parents in the use of off-highway vehicels, or OHVs, by kids, says Rita Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. During 2023, The Consumer Federation of American documented 498 OHV fatalities. Children 13 years and younger accounted for 19 percent of all deaths.
