Wildlife in Alberta. Sort of.

October 5, 2011

Ok, so I have to tell you, these little squirrels I’ve seen up here are very cute. They zoom around really fast and when two are playing chase, I can’t help but laugh. And when they sit on a fence and nibble acorns? Adorable.Of course, my big concern is bears. I’d like to see one, but at a safe distance. Apparently half of the grizzlies in the area hang out near the road to our hotel. So far, though, all we’ve seen are these signs.
Love this little bird. Anyone know what kind it is?

  1. RD says:

The bird is a Black-billed Magpie. In the crow family but with really long tails and beautiful blue wing feathers.

  2. Thanks–it’s beautiful.
