Just trust

just-trust

To a young woman I love and admire:

Trust.

The world is hard to navigate sometimes and some of the hills can really sap your strength.

Just trust that the highest good will always prevail, even if it doesn’t seem that way.

Bad things are going to happen — maybe they’re there so we can recognize the good things– but you can’t let them shake you. Stand tall and stand firm, rooted in your strength.

Trust that there’s a reason for everything and one day you will understand even if it isn’t yet evident.

Love is complicated and only goes smoothly for the lucky few but that has nothing to do with who you are. You are beautiful and worthy and deserve only the best. Require it.

Trust that you’ll get it, even if it takes longer than you’d like.

You might be tempted to settle because it’s a hard road alone, honey, and don’t I know it. If you do, you might not be in place when your destiny arrives, so try to resist.

And trust that good things will happen for you in their own time.

Grief will bang on your door sooner rather than later because it’s the card you drew at birth. But then, grief and sadness have already stepped into your life, into all our lives.  It’s the human condition.

Trust that there is no way around it, only through it and walk steadfastly through your tears.

You are a much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend — all those around you. They see your beauty, the very best you have to offer.

Trust that will be the case always, whether they are here on earth or not.

Normal is a trap, really,  you’ve never been normal I don’t think and that’s actually a good thing. You’re special in the way you think, the way you love, the way you live and so life is not going to be a steady upward path. But that’s ok.

Trust that you’re fit for the journey.  You can do it, whatever it takes.

I really don’t have much more to say to you except the answer to everything is to trust.

Just trust.

I never realized I had trust issues until a few years ago and when things shake my equilibrium they have a tendency to resurface. Luckily, I’m aware of it.
