Prayer for protection

This prayer is said to have been written by James Freeman for soldiers during World War II.

We can never go wrong asking for protection, especially if we’re going through a tough time.

Whether we’re facing health issues, family troubles, problems on the job–this powerful prayer is appropriate.

But we don’t have to be going through hard times to want to be encircled by the love of God. A prayer for protection is a beautiful way to start each and every day and I’ve added it to my morning ritual.

I wonder, do you have a favorite prayer to share in the Comments section?

I loved this Carol and pinned it to my quotes about faith board. My favourite prayer is the Prayer of St Francis – http://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=134

I’m not religious, but I can still appreciate a prayer!

This is a wonderful prayer, Carol. One that I need to say more often. I am always praying for the protection of my family but I need to remember for protection for myself. We have two young kids at home so our favorite prayer right now is the Johnny Appleseed Blessing!

I have always loved this verse from Psalm 91

He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Thank you for the prayer you shared. I will use it today and often.

Here’s the bully prayer I used when my daughter was growing up–every morning after the school bus pulled away, I’d always say, “Okay, God, I know I’m supposed to believe that you love her even more than I am capable of in my humanness, but that’s hard for me to believe. You better prove it by bringing her back home safely to me this day! 🙂

I need a prayer at the moment Carol so this came at the perfect time. Thank you.

  7. Hi Carol! I tend to think of this prayer as just a good reminder of what I believe to be true 24/7, 365. When I can live in this space then there is no need for protection. As Abraham-Hicks says, “Alignment comes before everything.” thanks for the reminder! ~Kathy

  8. Thank you for the prayer verse you shared. I need to try to use it more often.

This is wonderful for anyone that finds solace in prayer.Very helpful for anyone going through a tough time.

  10. I say affirmations rather than prayers. This is a great one:
I let go of all the false stories I make up in my head.

It’s always nice to start everything you do with the guidance of God through a simple prayer. It doesn’t take much of your time after all. I normally pray the rosary while traveling to make sure that my family and I are protected. When I am facing a tough ordeal, I also say a little prayer for guidance during that trying time.

It is really important that we pray for everything. Basically, we only pray for our needs and protection.
