Beautiful things ~ ceramics

October 31, 2009

Bright colors and patterns are joyful and fun.

I started painting ceramics at a public studio in Pacific Grove, California some time around 2001 or 2002. My former friend, Rosanne, a creative soul, encouraged me and soon I found myself immersed in painting colorful little bowls and cups. Plates. Weekend after weekend. They were some of the happiest hours of my life.

Not everything turned out. But somethings turned out better than I could’ve imagined. I was taken with bright colors and offbeat combinations. But a totally amateur effort.

Recently, I saw how a professional ceramics artist can do the same things I attempted. Only so much better.I found Liz Kinder, this fabulous ceramics artist, through Diana’s blog. These photos are of her designs. From www.lizkinder.com

I covet some of her pieces. I don’t want to move anything this fragile across country. I’d be crushed if they broke. But I see some pieces or even a small service in my future.
