Candy corn is not really a vegetable.

October 7, 2010

October is speeding by and the Halloween candy is piled up in stores, waiting. Nothing says Halloween like candy corn and oh, how I used to love them as a kid!

Now? Not so much. They taste kind of dry, actually. But 20 million POUNDS are sold each year, yes, POUNDS, so they haven’t lost their popularity as a Halloween treat.

On the positive side, they’re only 3.5 calories per kernel. On the negative side, they’re mostly sugar and corn syrup. The candy corn people make much of it having less sugar than raisins, though the candy is clearly less healthy.

But once a year? Not such a big sin. So…what’s your favorite Halloween candy?
