Delayed alimony

There are many things about our remarriage that lend themselves to somewhat darker humor. Not completely noir, but somewhat.

At dinner, M. referred in passing to a lawyer he knows who’s paying alimony to multiple ex-wives.

“Alimony,” I mused aloud. “Why didn’t I get alimony?”

“You’re getting it now,” M. said, as he handed me some joint banking papers to sign. “It was delayed.”

We both cracked up.
