The other day I was feeling pretty low for a number of reasons.

Almost immediately, Cutie positioned herself in front of me, as if to guard me. No matter where I was, she was there.

She had my back.

It’s a marvel how some pets can be so attuned to your mood … and can try to help. Beautiful, really, and one of the most wonderful things about having a loving relationship with a companion animal. This girl is my protector and I am hers.

Watching her try to protect me made me think about how important it is that someone have our back. In any situation. That we be able to count on them to protect, defend and maybe just listen.

So my question today is simple: Who has your back?
