Worry beads & loss

January 9, 2011

There’s another way to deal with grief, as well:
those who keep loss like worry beads in their pocket,
always touching them, working them,
actively aware of their
presence at all times.

Seems to me that’s what it’s like
in the early stages of loss.

Some of us don’t get past that, though.
I can be like that.
I stick with it a very long time

There’s not one right way to grieve.

You grieve as long as you have to.
For some, it’s a lifetime.

And you grieve however you have to.

That’s just the way it is.

{and this is the last one on loss for the foreseeable future.}
