How Boomers are finding ways to cope with our strange new world

March 22, 2020

cope-with-our-strange-new-worldSo much has changed over the past month.

The world as we knew it is gone. What comes next is anyone’s guess. Our blogging Boomers share what’s on their mind this week in our roundup of posts. This week, you’ll find ideas for ways to cope with our strange new world.

COPING WITH ANXIETY: FREE TOOLS

To cope with fear and anxiety, I’ve made some of my helpful products free–including a downloadable audio for managing anxiety and some daily thoughts for meditation or to set the tone. Find them all at my other blog.

IMPROVISING THIS STAYCATION

We tread carefully in these unusual times, unsure what to do. Self-quarantine totally? How many people, if any, is it OK to see one-on-one? Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting, and her hub, are home hoping the coronavirus passes over their house. Meanwhile day by day they improvise, as Baer summarizes in this week’s post Our Indefinite Staycation.

AVOID THE NEW BREED OF COVID CHARITY SCAMMERS

Scammers abound, even in these times, and in fact, capitalize on them.  Rita Robison gives us a warning and some advice.

ENJOY THE WORLD AROUND Y

Tom at Sightings Over Sixty decided to take a break from the angst and anxiety brought on by the Coronavirus. So this week he puts his Best Foot Forward and takes a walk, appreciating the bright side of nature that is just beginning to show itself now that spring is here.

FROM HER DOG HOUSE

Most of us, hopefully, are hiding out in our homes during this time of crisis but dealing with isolation isn’t that easy for some people. How are you dealing with it? Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com talks about it as she sits in her apartment hanging out with her dogs.

STAY VITAL!

In this new world of lockdowns and social distancing, are you worried that you’ll go crazy because you’re stuck at home with nothing to do? Jennifer, of Unfold And Begin, wants to assure you that even though you are stuck at home, you can still try new things…yes, even now! (Especially now.)

TIME OUT FOR HOPE

For Laurie Stone of Musings, Rants & Scribbles, it’s like the world’s been given a giant time-out. New sayings are popping up – “self-isolating”, “elbow bump”, and “social distancing” – that would’ve confused us even a few weeks ago. A little green plant in her living room is the last thing Laurie bought before shopping became an anxious, Purell-driven event. And yet good things have come from this awful pandemic. Here are hers. What are yours?

That’s it for this week–and we’d love to hear your thoughts. Sending peace and serenity to you all, from us all.
