Creating family

“Family trumps everything”

A favorite writer, Lolly Winston, posted this quote (by author Anna Quindlen) as her Facebook update last month. And here are a few of the comments she received:

  • But what if this isn’t true? What of families in which it doesn’t?
  • And what if you have no family?
  • You’re better off.
  • Anna Quindlen never met my sister.
  • You have to have a family of trumps ( not Donald’s) first. Some families do not make the cut. If you can come to that conclusion, you are fortunate.

If you’re not lucky enough to have a Waltons-esque* family, you might think everyone else has one. But apparently, that’s not true. Many of us have fabulous friends that become closer than family could be.
