New Year’s Day in Capitola

January 2, 2012

It was so warm and gorgeous, we decided to drive over to Capitola Beach for lunch and a quick visit with a friend. Getting out of the car, we heard music. Could it be… ukuleles? What a happy sound! I took video; take a listen:

A beautiful, sunny beach day for the first day of the new year, see below:

Even gulls want to look good on the beach. This one groomed himself for a bit.

What a sweet idea: tiles painted with children’s drawings along the beach wall.

What most people think of when we say “California beach.”

Beach ecology is important:

Capitola and I share more than two decades of memories. This has always been one of my very favorite places on the beach.

Beach-lovers are lovingly memorialized on the Capitola Wharf.

“He danced on these waters…”

We are reminded that the ocean — and nature itself–are infinite. And so are we.
