Pouring old wine into new bottles

December 22, 2024

old-wine

I ran across this phrase once and I liked it. Maybe I feel like an old wine that’s always being decanted into some new bottle. Because one thing’s certain: change is inevitable and we get used to adapting. I wonder if at some point, we just want to stay put…or if that would mean certain death.

It’s boomer blogger week and they’ve got some pleasant, helpful reading for you as we end 2024. And here you go:

Rita

Think safety for the holidays, advises Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. Injuries and deaths can occur from toys and decorations and also from cooking fires. Check out Robison’s article, “Cook, Decorate, and Select Toys with Safety in Mind This Holiday Season” for important tips.

Meryl

It’s that time of year again, Annual Letter time! They arrive in the mail from family and friends and announce the wonderful events of the past year – work promotions, travel, kids and grandkids accomplishments. The life of Meryl Baer of Musings of a Shore Life does not  include such grandiose happenings. She summarizes her year in this week’s post – My Incredibly Uninteresting Annual Letter.

Laurie

Some Christmases stay in our minds forever, no matter how old we get. Laurie’s most memorable came in 1972 when she was fifteen. It was the first time she feared Christmas wouldn’t come…at least not in the way she’d always known.

Rebecca

Have you been to Portugal and tasted its famous Pastéis de Nata custard tarts? Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com was completely enamored with them when she was in Lisbon a few years back and even though the recipe is secret she thinks she found a recipe that is similar. Why not try it for yourself?
