When in doubt, sing out

October 6, 2009

Ah, middle age.

Oh, ok. Maybe we’re a bit older than that now. Don’t feel it. But know it’s true.

It’s also true that when we’ve passed the half-century mark, we’re likely to have had the full spectrum of life experiences.

We’ve won and lost love. We’ve enjoyed career successes and setbacks. Faced disappointment. Felt great joy. We’ve lost dear ones. Counted on friends and some have let us down. Maybe faced health challenges. We may even have looked death in the eye a time or two.

With any luck, though, we’ve been resilient enough to come through it all with our optimism intact. Still knowing the words to the song in our hearts.

And still singing it out. No matter what.
