Easy Labor Day weekend recipe

September 4, 2010

Who wants to slave in the kitchen on a holiday weekend in the summer? Even if you’re grilling on Labor Day, you’ll want to fix something healthful, tasty, quick & easy for the other days of the weekend.

If you’re in the mood for a fall meal but it’s still too warm for cold-weather recipes, I made just the thing last night. Two-step easy and with that sweet, tangy, bobbing-for-apples flavor.

  1. I sauteed sliced onions and sliced apple in butter and apple cider. Not a lot of butter and cider, just enough to make a delicious saute. And a hint of cinnamon. Just a pinch, so it’s not overpowering
  2. When they were almost done, I sliced Aidell chicken & apple sausages and added them to the saute.

Delicious & healthy served over nutty brown rice. I served them with broccoli and sweet potatoes.

The idea actually came right from the Aidell package.

So if you don’t want to slave over a hot stove this weekend, here’s a simple, delicious way to celebrate summer’s end. Bon appetit!
