I’m going to get political. Why? Well, first, this is my website. It represents me and a huge part of me includes my opinions. My opinion is that our democracy is in danger. My opinion is that today’s so-called Republican party does not resemble in the slightest what we used to call the Grand Old Party. The so-called Republican candidate represents a clear and present danger to each of us, whether we recognize it or not. So here are a few words on the politics of today:

We are a self-destructive bunch, we Blue voters.

Here’s are the facts:

Blue voters are splintered on “the issues.” We have no strategy. We focus on one of a million different issues on which we disagree.We can’t get out of our own way and focus on winning, even in the face of an existential threat.

Trump is a patsy. A puppet.

The Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation are pulling his strings. They are ultra-right-wing, fundamentalist Christians. They are also brilliant strategists. They’ve gotten everyone on their side to sing from the same songbook.

That’s how they will win.

Blah, blah, blah / bye-bye-Blue

Meanwhile, we Blue voters are arguing internally. Palestine or Israel? Vaccines! RFK! Third party!

As we squabble among ourselves, the Supreme Court has become an arm of the Federalist Society. Republicans are saying out loud they want to subvert the Constitution. They are destroying environmental regulations. Trump says he wants to be dictator.

Democracy is dying because while Democrats are busy arguing, Republicans are out-strategizing us in a big way.

We have to stop this self-destructive behavior.  We must Vote Blue no matter who simply because the alternative is the death of democracy.We can argue issues later.

I hope we’re smart enough to see this. But I have no evidence that we are.

I used to think Trumpf supporters were the dumbest people on earth. B

But now I worry that Blue voters aren’t that much smarter.

If you’d like to do something tangible to help get out the Blue vote, please sign up to send postcards at this link. They’ll send postcards that you will stamp and send, all directed to Blue voters in swing states. You provide postage and they’ll also supply proven messages you can write. If so much postage is too expensive, why not ask a group of friends to join you. Split the cost–and have a postcard writing party!

And just so you know, data show that these efforts do help turn out the vote. They are critically important in this election. I hope you’ll participate.
