Men of the Sahara

April 13, 2012

Just like the male bird is the more colorful of the gender, Moroccan women tend to fade into the background more than men, whose striking hats, turbans and djellabas dot the landscape.  Men in the Sahara look especially exotic:

This nomad’s attire blends right into the dunes of the Sahara.
It’s actually pretty practical, since he spends all day in the desert with his camels.
This was my nomad–I loved his colorful attire. And it was rather cold that day.
These guys have posed countless times for photos just like this.
But I love how color pops against the dunes.
And oh, I am in love with those camels!
Lone nomad against the dunes evokes the vastness of this desert.
It looks like they’re all posing, but actually, they stand around
like this all the time. I mean, what else is there to do when
you’re done leading camels?
