The Americans

June 20, 2009

“When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.”-quote from Robert Frank

Although we went to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to see the Ansel Adams/Georgia O’Keefe exhibition, Natural Affinities, we were pleasantly surprised to see photographer Robert Frank’s The Americans on display.

And enjoyed it even more than the main attraction.

FLH and I both love photographic art, and Frank is one of the very best. As you can see from these.

The depth he achieves is incredible. What a great look into 1950s America. I could look at them for hours.

The book’s $50. I’d kind of like it. But thinking hard about it before ordering.

I’ve got a copy here at the house. He is my favorite photographer! The emotion just pours out of his pics and captures a side of people not seen by anyone else. Very moving.
